The main purpose of the publications is to improve the quality of operation and maintenance of NPP pumping equipment.
The first book describes the purpose, operating conditions and requirements for pumping equipment of NPPs with water-water reactors, considers the design of various pumps, rules and regulations for their design and manufacture. Different types of contact and non-contact seals and modern methods of their calculation are given, and also the influence of slotted seals on vibration characteristics of interrelated radial-angle and radial-axial vibrations of the dynamic system rotor - seal - balancing device of a centrifugal machine is analyzed. The issues of operation and repair of NPP pumping equipment are also covered.
The second book describes thermal schemes of NPPs, the purpose and role of pumping equipment for their successful functioning. Designs and characteristics of various pumps and their separate units are considered. Technological rules of installation, testing and start-up of NPP pumps are given. The issues of operation, maintenance and repair of pumping equipment are covered, recommendations on prevention of pump failures and methods of their elimination are given.

These scientific and industrial publications are devoted to the issues of sealing technology. They are briefly summarized below.
At present, pumps are mainly equipped with mechanical and radial gland seals. The choice of seals is very important, as up to 70 % of forced pump shutdowns during operation are due to seal failure. The rotating shaft seal is the most vulnerable part of the pump. The cost of the seals themselves can be up to 20% of the pump cost, so the choice of seal type is determined by the requirements of the equipment and the working conditions of the operating personnel, as well as economic feasibility.
Seals of movable joints are the most important units determining reliability, economy and safety of process equipment. Emergency failures of seals are most often the causes of major man-made disasters at nuclear power plants. Forced downtime of technological lines and systems due to seal failures causes huge economic damage, and seal repair requires large amounts of manual labor and expensive materials.
In general, all of the above publications constitute the library of a power plant operating engineer.
